What's your name?

You: Point to the person you are addressing.
Name: With both hands in the "H" handshape, tap the two hands together hitting the fingers twice.
What: Hold your relaxed "5" hands in front of you. The hands move slightly outward and to the sides.
Be sure to furrow or move your eyebrows down to signify you are asking a question that requires more than a yes or no reply.

Nice to meet you

Nice: Place your left hand in front of you, palm up and move the flat palm of your right hand across your left hand, palms touching.
Meet: Using the "index finger" handshapes (also known as the person classifier) move your two hands together so they "meet" in the middle.
You: Point to the person you are addressing.

What's up? How are you?

What's up: A modified "5" handshape on each hand with the middle finger is bent. The fingertips of the middle fingers are placed on or near the chest and then the hands are flipped outwards.
How: Form curved handshapes on both hands, palms down and/or slightly back. Place your hands together with the knuckles touching. Roll the hands forward until the "arches" are upside down--ending with your hands palm up in "cupping" handshapes.
You: Point to the person you are addressing.
Be sure to furrow or move your eyebrows down to signify you are asking a question that requires more than a yes or no reply.

Understand

Hold your hand up near your forehead. Your index finger is bent and the tip of the index finger is touching the pad of your thumb (your thumbprint). Then flick your index finger so that it points up.

 

Again/Repeat

The right hand is in a bent handshape with the left hand flat, palm up. the right hand then moves in an arc until the fingertips touch the left palm.

Like

Start with a flat handshape in front of you chest. Pull your hand outwards and touch your thumb and middle finger together You should end in the "8" handshape.

Think of the fist hand as representing your head. When you raise and lower your fist, bending at the wrist it represents your head nodding "yes."

Same as "UNDERSTAND" however you shake you head side to side, signifying that you don't understand.

Happy

Use "flat" hands, palms pointing back in front of your chest. Move both hands at the same time in the same, circular motion.

 

Fine

Touch your thumb to your chest using the "5" handshape.

Start with the index and middle fingers touching and the thumb extended. Then close the fingers in a pinching link motion, with the fingers still straight.
